Golden Maple Leaf 2022
An exclusive set of four gold coins issued by the Royal Canadian Mint for 2022 is dedicated to the Maple Leaf gold investment coin. The coins are struck in top quality Reverse Proof in the purest 99.99% pure gold in 1 Oz, 1/4 Oz, 1/10 Oz and 1/20 Oz.
The design for the reverse combines Canada's national symbol, the Maple Leaf, and the diamond tiara of Queen Elizabeth II. The Sugar Maple Leaf is a traditional motif of the Royal Canadian Mint's annual fractional sets. The diadem motif is based on the coin portrait of the monarch minted on Canadian coins from 1990 to 2002. It is a diamond diadem, officially called the George IV State Diadem, which was made for the King's coronation in 1821. The young Queen Elizabeth II wore it in her famous first official portrait, taken by Dorothy Wilding twenty days after her coronation in 1953. The monarch wears the same jewel every year at the opening of the British Parliament. The main motif is selectively plated in platinum on the 1 Oz coin. The inscription "CANADA", the weight and purity of the metal and the year of issue are included.
The obverse depicts a historical coin portrait of Elizabeth II (1990-2002) by Dora de Pédery-Hunt, which shows the Queen wearing a diamond tiara. Contemporary to the portrait are the artist's initials "DH". The rim of the coin bears the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "D.G. REGINA" and the denomination (50 DOLLARS, 10 DOLLARS, 5 DOLLARS and 1 DOLLARS).
The coins come in a deluxe maple leaf shaped box made of varnished maple wood along with a certificate of authenticity in a very limited edition of only 500 sets for the whole world!
