The Shengxiao Collection - Year of the Monkey 2016
The 2016 Lunar Gold Investment Coin, issued by the British Royal Mint in 1 oz (31.135 g) of the finest 99.99% pure gold in a series named after the Chinese zodiac, The Shengxiao Collection, is dedicated to the Chinese lunar sign - the Year of the Monkey.
The reverse of the coin depicts the original motif of monkeys jumping from branch to branch. Above them is the inscription "YEAR OF THE MONKEY 2016" along with the weight and purity, and to the right is the Chinese character for the Year of the Monkey.
The face of the coin portrays Queen Elizabeth II looking to the right. The portrait is surrounded by the inscriptions "ELIZABETH'II'D'G", "REG'FID'DEF", the denomination and the initials of the artist Jody Clark "JD" below.
