The 2018 Lunar Gold Investment Coin issued by the British Royal Mint weighing 1 oz (31.21 g) of the purest 99.99% gold in a series named after the Chinese zodiac
The Shengxiao Collection is dedicated to the Chinese lunar sign - the Year of the Dog.
The reverse of the coin, the fifth motif in the Shēngxiao series, was again designed by artist Wuon-Gean Ho, continuing the series of designs that began with the Year of the Horse. The design depicts a terrier, a very popular breed that artists have portrayed for centuries. The motif is surrounded by the words "YEAR OF THE DOG 2018" along with the weight, purity and Chinese character for the Year of the Dog.
The face of the coin bears the fifth and definitive coin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Surrounding it are the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "D'G'REG'F'D", the denomination, and the initials of the artist Jody Clark "JD" below.
