The Shengxiao Collection - Year of the Pig 2019
The 2019 Lunar Gold Investment Coin issued by the Royal British Mint weighing 1 oz (31.21 g) in purity of the purest 99.99% gold in a series named after the Chinese zodiac, The Shengxiao Collection is dedicated to the Chinese lunar sign - the Year of the Pig.
The reverse of the coin depicts the sixth motif in the Shēngxiao series, again designed by artist Wuon-Gean Ho, continuing the series of designs that began with the Year of the Horse. The design depicts a female domestic pig with her young drinking from the teats of her mother's milk. In the background, an idyllic country house is depicted amidst a starry night. The motif is surrounded by the words "YEAR OF THE PIG 2019" along with the weight, purity and Chinese character for the Year of the Pig.
The obverse bears the fifth and definitive coin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Surrounding it are the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "D'G'REG'F'D", the denomination, and the initials of the artist Jody Clark "JD" below.
