Detailed description
Series "Biblical Art" 2009
An exclusive gold coin, issued by the Bank of Israel in 2009, is dedicated to famous biblical events, this time the theme of Samson and the Lion was chosen.
The coin is the fourteenth in the world's popular "Biblical Art" series, and on its reverse it artistically depicts, in the ancient Mesopotamian style - typical of the Canaanite period - the motif of Samson wrestling with a wild lion in the Philistine city of Timnath. The palm tree on the left symbolizes the land of Israel where this scene took place.
The obverse shows the face value, the inscriptions "SAMSON AND THE LION JUDGES 14:5" and "ISRAEL" in English/Hebrew/Arabic and the year of issue.
The coin comes in a gift box with a certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 555 pieces for the whole world!
