The Polish Mint XXI comes up with the most extensive series of The Great Greek Mythology yet. The issue of this unique series is planned for 4 years and will offer a total of 36 silver selectively gilded coins in 3 different sizes. The individual coins will present us the most famous figures of Greek mythology, processed to the smallest detail thanks to the high relief design.
The ancient Greeks believed that gods had the same qualities and emotions as mortals. This is probably why Greek myths are so popular and contain a huge number of stories. In them, the gods act like humans and can be noble or vengeful, deceitful or honest. They can love and hate, envy and wish, feel anger and joy.
Each silver coin tells a fascinating story about the gods, heroes and mythical creatures of ancient Olympus.

Cerberus 1 Oz

The reverse of the coin depicts Cerberus, the three-headed black dog that guards the entrance to the underworld. He lets everyone in, but no one comes out alive. On the coin he is depicted as a terrifying creature with three heads, fangs bared, a dragon's tail, snakes for fur and a gilded collar with thorns fastened around his neck. The background shows a Greek mosaic from which a poisonous snake is peering out. The rim of the coin is highlighted by an outstretched chain, and the inscription 'CERBERUS' is placed in the lower right part, protruding above the surface of the coin.

Achilles 2 Oz

The reverse of the coin depicts the Trojan War hero Achilles in one of his heroic deeds. The warrior is shown here in profile, clad in his armor and ornate helmet, marching behind the enemy. He holds a gilded spear in his right hand and a golden orb in his left. The warrior is surrounded by horsemen on horseback with arrows and spears, and the famous wooden Trojan horse is also depicted. The rim of the coin is decorated with a delicate Greek design, with the inscription "ACHILLES" on the left side, rising above the surface of the coin.

Demeter 2 Oz

The reverse of the coin depicts the beautiful fertility goddess and guardian of life, Demeter. The beautiful woman is dressed in a transparent robe, in one hand she holds a sickle with which she reaps grain and in the other she carries a gilded cornucopia from which she sprinkles fruit. The background of the coin depicts a Greek design and a beautiful floral mosaic from which a lion's head, representing strength, emerges. Birds fly around the goddess, representing life. The inscription "DEMETER" is placed in the lower right corner, rising above the surface of the coin.

The obverse of the coin depicts the Temple of Zeus in ancient Olympia surrounded by a laurel wreath. Above the upper part of the wreath is the year of issue, and at the bottom the purity of the coin. The rim of the coin is decorated with a typical Greek design with the inscription "REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN", the face value, year of issue and weight. Two ancient columns intersect the centre of the rim.

The coins are supplied in a luxury box with a certificate of authenticity, in a limited edition of 500 pieces (Achilles and Demeter, Cerberus)
