Rwanda - Year of the Rooster 2017
The 2017 Republic of Rwanda silver lunar investment coin, minted in 99.9% purest silver and weighing 1 Oz (31.1 g), is dedicated to the Chinese lunar cycle - the Year of the Rooster.
The coin features a mosaic of a rooster on its reverse. At the top is the Chinese character for the "Year of the Rooster", and on the left is the inscription "LUNAR OUNCE". In the lower part on the background of the mosaic "YEAR OF THE ROOSTER". In the right part is the weight, purity and year of issue. People born in the Year of the Rooster (1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005 and 2017) are said to be hardworking, loyal, honest and sociable. The obverse of the coin depicts the heraldic symbol of Rwanda surrounded by the inscriptions "BANKI NKURU Y'U RWANDA" and the denomination "AMAFARANGA 50 MIRONGO ITANU".
