Rwanda - Year of the Rat 2020
Issued for the year 2020 and minted in the purest 99.9% silver with a weight of 1 Oz (31.1 g), this silver lunar coin of the Republic of Rwanda is dedicated to the Chinese lunar cycle - the Year of the Rat.
The reverse of the coin bears a rat motif depicted in a stylized mosaic. The Chinese character for the "Year of the Rat" is incorporated at the top. This is followed by the inscriptions 'LUNAR OUNCE' (left) and the weight, fineness and year of issue (right). At the bottom, the inscription "YEAR OF THE RAT" is placed on the background of the mosaic.
People born in the Year of the Rat/Mouse (1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008 and 2020) are characterized as inquisitive, ambitious, fun-loving and explosive personalities.
The obverse of the coin depicts the heraldic symbol of Rwanda surrounded by the inscriptions 'BANKI NKURU Y'U RWANDA' and the denomination 'AMAFARANGA 50 MIRONGO ITANU'.
