Australian Wedge-tailed Eagle 2024
Silver investment coin issued by the Perth Mint in 2024 in the purest 99.99% silver, weighing 1 Oz (31.1 g). The Australian Wedge-tailed Eagle motif was introduced by the Mint in January 2014 and the Mint has changed the Wedge-tailed Eagle design each year thereafter.
The 2024 edition celebrates two events, the 10th anniversary of the launch of the series and the Mint's 125th anniversary.
The reverse of the coin offers the viewer a view of the sky. An imposing bird of prey with outstretched wings circles the sky, surrounded by an aura of stylised sunbeams that resemble a multi-pointed star. The description includes the inscription "AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE", "10TH ANNIVERSARY" details of the issue, weight and purity of the metal. Included is the mint's special anniversary mark "P125" and the initials of the designer "JM".
The wedge-tailed eagle, found mainly in Australia, is one of the largest eagle species with a wingspan of up to 2.5 metres. It is easily identified by the specific appearance of its tail feathers arranged in a wedge shape.
The obverse bears a portrait of King Charles III by Dan Thorne, accompanied by the inscriptions 'CHARLES III', 'AUSTRALIA' and the face value. The coins have the status of Australian legal tender and come in a protective plastic capsule.
The coin comes in a protective plastic capsule and is limited to a mintage of just 50,000 worldwide!
