Australian Wedge-tailed Eagle 2023
A silver investment coin issued by the Perth Mint in 2023 in the finest 99.99% pure silver, weighing 1 Oz (31.1 g). The Australian Wedge-tailed Eagle motif was launched by the Perth Mint in January 2014 and the design of the Wedge-tailed Eagle has been updated each year thereafter.
The reverse of the coin depicts a view of a wedge-tailed eagle on a tree branch. The raptor's outstretched wings give a hint of its magnificent range. The description includes the inscription "AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE", issue, weight, fineness and mint mark "P". A small mark of the designer "JM" is included.
The wedge-tailed eagle, found mainly in Australia, is one of the largest eagle species with a wingspan of up to 2.5 m. It is easily identified by the specific appearance of its tail feathers arranged in a wedge shape.
The face shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark with the initials 'JC'. The rim of the coin shows the years of the reign of the monarch "1952 - 2022", the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA" and the face value "1 DOLLAR". The coin has the status of Australian legal tender.
The coin comes in a protective plastic capsule and is limited to a mintage of only 50,000 worldwide!
