Silver Coin with Sun Stone - Scarab
The unique silver coin issued by the State of Niue for 2021 and precisely minted by the Polish Mint from the purest 99.9% silver weighing 17.5 g represents a revered symbol from ancient Egypt - the scarab.
The reverse of the silver coin depicts a "sun" scarab in the traditional form of an amulet. The sacred beetle with outstretched wings rolls a ball which, according to the ancient Egyptians, is the source of new life and at the same time an image of the sun travelling across the sky. The ball is made of sunstone with typical fine glitter. In healing, this shining mineral gives courage, renews spiritual energy and releases personal potential. The motif also includes a lotus flower decoration at the top. In the religious cult of plants, the lotus had a similar significance to the scarab. The flowers, which open in the morning and close for the night, are associated with the sun and symbolize creation, rebirth and regeneration. Selective colouring is applied to part of the design using digital printing techniques.
The obverse depicts a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley along with the artist's initials and inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "NIUE ISLAND", purity, denomination, year of issue and mint mark.
The coin comes in a presentation frame with a certificate of authenticity. The mintage is limited to 500 pieces for the whole world!
