Icon 2021

The exclusive silver coin issued by the island state of Tokelau and minted by the Bratislava Pressburg Mint in 2021 in Brilliant Uncirculated quality and purity of the purest 99.99% silver weighing 1 Oz (31.3 g) depicts one of the meanings of the word icon through the image of the Mona Lisa.

The reverse side of the coin depicts the most famous portrait of a woman, the iconic Mona Lisa by Italian Renaissance painter Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519). The coin's motif incorporates a geometric texture that hides the inscription "ICON" divided into two lines. The edge of the coin is flanked by disjointed circles.
The word icon comes from the Greek word EIKÓN and means image. Today the word no longer denotes only a religious image of the Orthodox Church, but is used for a variety of other figurative meanings. A famous person may be characterized as an icon, or adding the attribute iconic to the name of an object will emphasize its importance and significance.

The obverse bears a portrait of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II by Ian-Rank Broadley and the year of issue "2021" divided into tens. Around the perimeter of the coin are the inscriptions " TOKELAU", "5 DOLLARS", "1 OZ FINE SILVER" and "ELIZABETH II". The background of the coin consists of concentric circles, followed by a border of non-concentric circles.

The coin comes in a plastic capsule in a limited mintage of only 30,000 pieces for the whole world!
