Assassins - Sicarii 2 Oz

An exclusive silver coin issued by the State of Niue for the year 2022 in ultra high relief weighing 2 Oz (62.2 g), in purity of the purest 99.9% silver with Antique standard finish, is part of the Assassins edition. The third coin in the series is dedicated to the murderous Jewish group Sikari.

On its reverse, the coin bears in high relief three figures of the implacable Sikaris with drawn gilded daggers. The killers hide their cruelty under the hood of their long cloaks. In the background is the ancient city of Jerusalem at the time of Roman rule. The motif of the coin is executed in a very elaborate embossing, which is evident in the details and allows to feel the atmosphere of danger. The stylized name of the coin "SICARIA" is placed at the top of the coin.
The Sicarii were a militant Zealot resistance group operating in the 1st century AD in the Roman province of Judea and are also considered the first terrorist organization. The name Sicarii was derived from the word sicae, referring to the small daggers they carried hidden in the folds of their flowing cloaks. They used the short daggers to launch murderous attacks on Romans and their supporters at disorderly gatherings, only to blend back into the crowd of onlookers the next moment. But they did not shy away from cruelty and tyranny against the local population in order to incite a Jewish revolt against Rome.
At the beginning of the First Jewish-Roman War in 66 AD, they joined with other rebel factions to gain control of Jerusalem. However, further violence and strife accompanied the unstable period of their rule. After the conquest and destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 AD, the surviving Sicarii took refuge in a fortress on Masada Table Mountain. The Romans, however, followed the rebels to the site of their last stand. After three years of siege, the Sicarii and local Jewish families chose death by mass suicide over a life of slavery.
For modern Israel, this historic event is a symbol of Jewish heroism and part of its national identity.

The obverse of the coin is decorated with ornaments of two daggers. The Niue national emblem is placed in the inner cut-out, which is complemented on the coin's rim by the denomination "5 DOLLARS", the metal purity, the issuer's designation and the year of issue "NIUE 2022".

The coin comes in its original box with a certificate of authenticity, in a limited mintage of only 999 pieces for the whole world!
