This exclusive gold-plated silver coin, minted in 2022 and weighing 2 Oz (62.2 g) in the finest 99.9% pure silver with Antique Standard finish, is part of the Wildlife In The Moonlight series, which captures wildlife by moonlight in an original way.
The fourth coin in the series features the Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus).
The reverse side of the coin depicts a majestic eagle with outstretched wings flying over the peaks of the Rocky Mountains. The eagle is the emblem of the United States of America and symbolizes strength, supreme power, authority and freedom. The design also includes a full moon with selective gilding and the coin's name "AMERICAN EAGLE" in English and "HALIAEETUS LEUCOCEPHALUS" in Latin.
The bald eagle is a large bird of prey that lives in North America. It usually measures between 70 and 102 cm and has a wingspan of 2.44 metres. Female bald eagles are about 25 percent larger than males. While the eagle's body is colored brown, the head and tail are white. A distinctive feature is the hooked yellow beak and yellow legs with large claws with which it hunts its prey. It feeds mainly on fish or the carrion of other animals. In the wild, bald eagles usually live to be about 20 to 30 years old.
The obverse shows the traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain , the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "REPUBLIC OF GHANA " and the face value "10 CEDIS", the year of issue 2022, the fineness data and the weight 2 Oz.
