Wildlife in the Moonlight: Long-eared owl
This exclusive 2 Oz (62.2 g) gold-plated silver coin, released in 2019 in the purest 99.9% silver purity, is dedicated to the most abundantly distributed owl, the Long-eared owl (Asio otus).
The reverse side of the coin depicts the motif of a detailed Kalous sitting on a tree branch in its natural habitat. The overall appearance of the coin is complemented by a gilded moon in the background, which completes the overall composition of the night. This motif is further complemented by the Latin and English name of the owl.
The obverse bears the traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain by Ian-Rank Broadley with the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "NIUE", the denomination, purity, year of issue and weight.
The coin comes in a gift box with a certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 500 pieces for the whole world.
