Wildlife In The Moonlight - Brown Bear
The exclusive 2023 minted 2 oz (62.2 g) gold-plated silver coin in the finest 99.9% silver with Antique Standard finish, released as part of the Wildlife In The Moonlight series, depicts wildlife under the moonlight in an original way. The sixth representative of the series is the Brown Bear (Urcus arctos).
The reverse side of the coin shows a massive bear resting in a clearing by moonlight. Because of its strength and majesty, it is often considered the protector of the forest. The design also includes a full moon with selective gilding and the coin's name "BROWN BEAR" in English and "URCUS ARCTOS" in Latin.
The brown bear is a massive beast, inhabiting large areas of northern Europe and Asia and North America. These mammals can weigh around 300kg, with males about 40% larger than females. As the animal's name suggests, the coat colour is brown, with individuals varying in shades from fawn to dark brown. Bears have very strong claws, which they use to tear apart their prey and then eat it. Although they are omnivores, 80% of their diet is plant-based. In the wild, they live to be about 20 to 30 years old.
The obverse displays the national emblem of the Republic of Niue in its centre, with the inscriptions ''NIUE ISLAND'' and the denomination ''FIVE DOLLARS'', the year of issue 2023, and the weight and purity of the metal in the circle.
The coin comes in a wooden gift box with a numbered certificate of authenticity, limited to only 500 pieces worldwide!
