Myths and Legends series
The Myths and Legends series of investment coins from the Royal Mint is inspired by folklore and stories passed down through the generations for centuries. It describes heroes who have stood up for individuals and the nation in times of danger. They may have been role models to rulers and monarchs for their wisdom, chivalry, nobility and bravery.
These immortal stories are told in a nine-part series, divided into three separate parts.
Thefirst three coins make up the Robin Hood collection and feature the main character, his companion Maid Marian and his faithful friend Little John. The designs were created by British medallist Jody Clark. The 1 Oz coins are complemented by a 10 Oz variant from the 2023 issue.
The second trio of the series is inspired by the Arthurian legend and cannot even be launched by any other character than the mythical King Arthur, who is followed by the wizard Merlin and the dark fairy Morgana. The coin motif was designed by illustrator David Lawrence.
The theme for the third and final trio is based on the legend of Beowulf.
