Somali Elephant - African Wildlife
The Somali Elephant (African Wildlife) series of investment gold coins, minted for 2024 in the finest 99.99% pure gold, weighing 1 Oz (31.1 g), have been issued since 2004 by the Bavarian Mint in Munich, Germany (Das Bayerische Hauptmünzamt Mint) with a history dating back to 1158.
On its reverse side, the coin depicts two elephants in the African savannah vying for the favour of a female. The coin's rim is surrounded by the inscriptions ''AFRICAN WILDLIFE'', ''ELEPHANT'', weight and purity of the metal.
The obverse of the coin depicts the heraldic symbol of the Republic of Somalia - two leopards holding a shield with a five-pointed star, two crossed spears under the shield, which are entwined by a ribbon and two crossed palm leaves. Above the shield is the inscription ''SOMALI REPUBLIC'', on the sides the year of issue ''2024'' divided into tenths and on the lower side the face value of the coin.
