Somalia - African Wilderness
The Republic of Somalia's African Wildlife Series investment gold coins minted for 2021 in the finest 99.99% pure gold, weighing 1 Oz (31.1 g), have been issued since 2004 by the Bavarian Mint in Munich, Germany (Das Bayerische Hauptmünzamt Mint) with a history dating back to 1158.
The reverse of the coin depicts a female elephant and her calf walking across the African savannah. The rim is inscribed with the words "AFRICAN WILDLIFE", "ELEPHANT", "1oz Au 999.9".
The obverse depicts the heraldic symbol of the Republic of Somalia, two leopards holding a shield depicting a five-pointed star, below the shield are two crossed spears entwined by a ribbon and two crossed palm leaves. Above the shield is the inscription 'SOMALI REPUBLIC' accompanied by the year of issue and the denomination.
