Niue Taku
The silver investment coin issued by Niue and minted by the New Zealand Mint since 2014 is dedicated to the very rare and critically endangered Hawksbill turtle, also called Taku. These original investment coins are minted from the purest 99.9% silver.
Obverse
The coins depict a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Brodley with the artist's initials "IRB" placed below the portrait. This is followed by the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "NIUE", the denomination and the year of issue.
Reverse
The reverse of the coin depicts a Taku turtle in the waters of the Pacific Ocean along with the purity and weight designations and the inscription "TURTLE".
