Australian Emu 2021
A silver investment coin issued by the Perth Mint in 2021 in purity of the purest 99.99% silver weighing 1 Oz (31.1 g). A premium quality investment coin for discerning investors and collectors, the Australian Emu was launched by the Australian Mint in 2018 and has since introduced a new theme for each issue.
The coin's reverse depicts a female Emu and her young at a watery cove, which provides a source of moisture for the sparse vegetation in the area. The description includes the inscription "AUSTRALIAN EMU" and details of the year of issue, weight and fineness. Also included are the mint mark "P" and the artist's initials "MR".
The Australian emu (brown emu - Dromaius novaehollandiae) is the second largest flightless bird in the world, found in abundance throughout most of Australia. Emus are omnivores, but mostly feed on berries and seeds. They live for ten years in the wild and up to 35 years in captivity.
The obverse shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark with the initials "JC" and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA" and the face value. The coin has the status of Australian legal tender.
The coin comes in a protective plastic capsule and is limited to a mintage of only 30,000 worldwide!
