Vivat Humanitas 2022
An exclusive silver coin issued by the island state of Tokelau and minted by the Bratislava Mint Pressburg Mint in 2022 in high mintage quality weighing 1 Oz (31.1 g) of the purest 99.9% silver is released as part of the Vivat Humanitas series, which celebrates the idea of humanity as a carrier of progress despite all conflicts and cultural differences. The theme for the third coin in the series is alchemy and astrology, which were at the origin of modern science.
The motif on the reverse of the coin consists of a pattern using ancient symbols from the fields of alchemy and astrology. The design is dominated by the octogram, an eight-pointed star formed by eight magical triangles connecting the branches of knowledge and the energy of the natural elements such as earth, air, fire and water. An astrological calendar depicting the sun and moon is placed in the centre of the coin. The background of the coin is covered with a mysterious writing of formulas and signs associated with mysticism. The rim of the coin gives the name of the coin "VIVAT HUMANITAS" (Latin for Long Live Mankind) and an indication of the weight and purity of the metal. The doubled purity designation is repeated on the left and right of the coin and consists of the indication "9999" and the alchemical symbol of an inverted crescent for the element silver.
The obverse of the coin shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian-Rank Broadley with the artist's initials and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", TOKELAU 2022" and the face value "5 DOLLARS". The background decor matches the reverse with important symbols of alchemy and astrology, including the symbol of the philosopher's stone.
