Vivat Humanitas 2021 - Brilliant Uncirculated
An exclusive silver coin issued by the island state of Tokelau and minted by the Bratislava Mint Pressburg Mint in 2021 in Brilliant Uncirculated quality, weighing 1 Oz (31.3 g) of the purest 99.9% silver, is part of the Vivat Humanitas series, which celebrates the idea of humanity as a carrier of progress despite all conflicts and cultural differences. The theme for the second coin in the series is music - a unique way of communicating that can be understood across nations.
The motif on the reverse of the coin works with universal graphics combined with the interpretation of music. The background consists of two interlocking squares that overlap at a 45° angle. The points of the diamond contain the eighth note symbol "♪", the bar prefix "C", a major chord and the Coda symbol. The background at the intersection of the squares is a random arrangement of symbols and notation marks. The inner circle is filled with a raster of sound wave propagation. In its centre is a musical outline and a violin key stylized in the outline of the Eye of Horus, the ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, royalty and health. The denomination "$5" follows the lined outline on the right. The decorated rim describes the coin's name "VIVAT HUMANITAS" (Latin for Long Live Mankind) and the year of issue "2021". The grooves of the vinyl record are carried into the outer portion outside the intersection, rising to the finely decorated border at the edge of the coin.
The obverse of the coin features Ian-Rank Broadley's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain with the artist's initials. The portrait's rim is flanked by a band of keyboard. The surrounding area of the background is divided obliquely. It consists of randomly arranged symbols and notation marks and a grid of sound waves. The field on the right contains a short analogue sound recording, a musical notation with the weight of the coin '1OZ' and the purity of the metal, and the inscriptions 'ELIZABETH II', TOKELAU'. The decoration on part of the edge of the coin corresponds to the reverse side.
