History of Aviation Series - Antonov An-2
An exclusive silver coin in coloured design, issued by the Republic of Burundi in 2015 in top quality proof from the purest 99.9% silver in the "History of Aviation" series, is dedicated to the Soviet biplane - Antonov An-2.
The reverse of the coin depicts a coloured Soviet or Ukrainian Antonov An-2 single-engine all-metal strut biplane. The first Antonov prototype flew on 31 August 1947, designated SChA-1, powered by a seven-cylinder AS-21 engine. It was originally developed as an agricultural aircraft, but its capabilities meant that it was used in various fields of activity, including military (transport and airborne). The inscriptions "ANTONOV AN-2" and "HISTORY OF AVIATION" follow. The obverse shows the national emblem of Burundi, the denomination, weight, purity and year of issue.
The coin comes in a deluxe box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 1947 pieces for the whole world!
