History of Aviation series - Jakovlev Jak-7b
An exclusive silver coin in coloured design, issued by the Republic of Burundi in 2014 in top quality proof from the purest 99.9% silver in the series "History of Aviation", is dedicated to the Soviet fighter aircraft - Yakovlev Yak-7b.
The reverse of the coin depicts a coloured Soviet Yakovlev Yak-7 fighter aircraft, one of the machines that were developed in 1941 during World War II from the I-26 prototype, and trained French pilots from the Normandy-Neimen Regiment. The Yakovlev Yak-7 was very popular among pilots for its simplicity, speed and manoeuvrability. The inscriptions "YAKOVLEV YAK-7B" and "HISTORY OF AVIATION" follow. The obverse shows the national emblem of Burundi, the face value, weight, purity and year of issue.
