5 Oz - Mythical World of Haida - Eagle
This exclusive silver partially enamelled coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2016 is precision struck in a top quality proof weighing 5 Oz (157.6 g) in the purest 99.99% silver purity. This coin is the second of three coins issued in the "Mythical Realms of the Haida" series and is dedicated to the Eagle, the largest of the birds of prey.
The reverse of the coin depicts a motif in the style of the Haida art of Canada's indigenous peoples, which shows an eagle dancing in the sky created in black and red enamel. A closer look reveals a human form hidden within the eagle's silhouette (the hands are situated in the eagle's wings, while the feet are in its talons). The motif is further enhanced by the silhouette of the full moon created by a simple circular outline in the background. The inscriptions "CANADA", the year of issue, the artist's initials "AW" and the denomination "50 DOLLARS" follow. The obverse features a traditional portrait of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt with the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II" and "D.G. REGINA".
