A unique silver coin partially filled with semi-permeable enamel, issued by the State of Barbados for 2023, weighing 3 Oz (93.3 g) of the purest 99.9% silver with Antique Standard finish and ultra-high relief, is released as part of the Colours of Wildlife series featuring a sloth on the third coin.

The reverse of the coin depicts the sloth in its natural habitat in the rainforest of South America. The famous sloth is suspended from a tree branch and surrounded by lush vegetation. The rainforest effect is created by filling it with transparent green enamel, which reflects the colours of the wilderness while revealing an amazing 3D effect. The image rises up to the rim of the coin containing the name "SLOTH", the year of issue "2023" and the series logo.
The ancestors of the sloths lived as early as the Pleistocene and, as members of the megafauna, reached enormous sizes and weighed several tons. Even for their size, they moved exclusively on land and fed on a plant-based diet. Today's sloth separated from its common ancestor some 40 million years ago and gradually switched to arboreal life. Its giant relative was wiped out some 12,000 years ago, largely thanks to humans, for whom it was easy prey and a rich source of meat and bones.
The sloth is a solitary creature that spends up to 90 percent of its life without moving in the treetops of tropical rainforests. It moves primarily for food, using its curved claws, at an average speed of 4 m per minute. When threatened, they can accelerate up to 4.5 m per minute. The favourite position of the sloth is to be suspended upside down. It can sleep, eat or give birth to its young in this way and often stays that way even after death. Sloths have an extremely slow metabolism, coming down to defecate about once a week.

The face of the coin bears the national emblem of Barbados with the inscription "BARBADOS" and the face value "5 DOLLARS". The inner circle depicts other representatives of wildlife, accompanied by the series name "COLOURS OF WILDLIFE" and weight and fineness information.

The coin comes in a deluxe wooden box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 999 pieces for the entire world! The edge of the coin also bears the original number.
