About the Royal Mint
The Royal Mint is the state mint owned by the British monarch. With a history spanning over 1100 years, the British Mint is the world's leading exporter of coins to the world. As well as minting circulation coins for the UK and other countries, it also produces commemorative coins and various types of medals. It is the largest and most technically advanced mint in the world. It produces more than 3.3 billion coins and blanks a year for more than thirty countries at its plant in South Wales. Each of their coins tells a story that inspires every collector. It also specialises in the minting of military and commemorative medals and handles numismatic commissions for many other countries.
History
The Royal Royle Mint was founded in 886. Historically, it was part of a series of mints that centralized and produced coins for the kingdom. The famous mathematician and physicist Isaac Newton also associated his name with the mint, working there as a mintmaster and also as a trustee. For more than a thousand years, it has struck coins of British monarchs from Alfred the Great to Queen Elizabeth II. The British Royle Mint has developed the most visually secure gold coin in the world. In 2021, it produced the first ever ten-kilo gold commemorative coin, marking the conclusion of the Queen's Beasts commemorative coin collection.
Gold bullion
To mark the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever, the Royal Mint has released a special edition of investment bars. The ingots are an officially licensed product produced in partnership with the James Bond film production company (EON Productions Limited and Danjaq). The background on the top side of the ingot is covered with a fine texture of small brilliant cut diamonds. The marking of Agent 007 with a gun motif and the Royal Mint logo stand out in the foreground. At the bottom, the weight, purity of the metal and the ingot number are given. The reverse is dominated by the title of the film Diamonds Are Forever, with the word Forever repeated five more times on subsequent lines. The background motif covers five cut diamonds from smallest to largest. Each ingot is numbered and sealed in a protective plastic case (serving as a certificate) with the official 007 logo. The worldwide mintage is limited to just 5,000 pieces.
Gold and silver coins
The legendary agent James Bond is the star of the movie screen. This collectible set of three coins honours Agent 007 and his iconic film franchise in luxurious style. The most popular gold and silver investment coins are the Britannie coins depicting a woman in a helmet. The entire motif is traditionally bordered by a dagger to represent unity. Britannie was designed by the renowned sculptor Philip Nathan. The obverse depicts Queen Elizabeth II. Popular with connoisseurs and admirers of investment coins is The Queen's Beasts series, which features ten heraldic animals from the genealogy of Elizabeth II created to mark her coronation in 1953. The stylized likeness of the Queen's Beasts was rendered for the coin series by talented engraver Jody Clark.
