Rectangular Dragon 2023 - Rectangular Dragon 1 Oz
The 2023 gold investment coin, issued by the Australian Perth Mint in purity of the purest 99.99% gold and weighing 1 Oz (31.1 g), features an important symbol of power in its original form - a Chinese dragon on a rectangular coin format.
The reverse of the coin features an elaborate Chinese dragon motif interpellated by experienced medalist Wade Robinson. The overall image of the mythological creature is stylized for the unusual format. The mint mark "P" and the initials of the designer "WR" are included.
The dragon in Chinese mythology occupies the highest place of hierarchy. The legendary creature of divine origin is a representative of strength, luck and wealth, and is an immutable symbol of power. It is also considered to be the embodiment of the sun, light and life, and is the ruler of the weather and water realm.
The obverse depicts a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark with the initials 'JC'. The top of the coin features the name "ELIZABETH II", the years of the monarch's reign "1952 - 2022", the name of the state "AUSTRALIA" and the weight and purity of the metal. The lower part contains the face value of the coin "100 DOLLARS" and the year of issue "2023".
The coin comes in a protective capsule, the mintage is limited to a "lucky" number of 8,888 pieces for the whole world!
The coin has the status of Australian legal tender under the Monetary Act 1965.
