Rectangular Dragon 2023 - Rectangular Dragon 1 Oz
Issued by the Australian Perth Mint for 2023 in the finest 99.99% pure silver, the 1 Oz (31.1 g) silver investment coin features a significant symbol of power in its original form - a Chinese dragon on a rectangular coin format.
The reverse of the coin features an elaborate Chinese dragon motif interpellated by experienced medalist Wade Robinson. The overall image of the mythological creature is stylized for the unusual format. It includes the mint mark "P" and the initials of the designer "WR".
The dragon in Chinese mythology occupies the highest place of hierarchy. The legendary creature of divine origin is a representative of strength, luck and wealth, and is an immutable symbol of power. It is also considered to be the embodiment of the sun, light and life, and is the ruler of the weather and water realm.
The obverse depicts a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark with the initials 'JC'. The top of the coin features the name "ELIZABETH II", the years of the monarch's reign "1952 - 2022", the name of the state "AUSTRALIA" and the weight and purity of the metal. The lower part contains the face value of the coin "1 DOLLARS" and the year of issue "2023".
The mintage is limited to 250,000 pieces worldwide!
The coin has the status of Australian legal tender under the Monetary Act 1965.
