Detailed description
Australia's Coat of Arms 2021
Minted by the Royal Australian Mint in 2021, the 1 Oz gold investment coin of the highest purity 99.99% gold is the first coin in the Australia's Coat of Arms series inspired by the Commonwealth of Australia's national emblem.
The original design of the investment coins was created by Aaron Baggio, who unconventionally developed the motif on the reverse and obverse of the coin. Each side of the coin features one of the shield-bearers supporting the Commonwealth Coat of Arms state emblem, as well as being endemic to the Australian fauna. In a new conception, the artist disproves the common assumption about the sex of the animals and depicts them as female.
The reverse of the coin depicts a female red kangaroo with her young. The background is interwoven with a stylized composition of the rich Australian flora. A seven-pointed Star of the Union and a fringed shield with the coin's face value of "100 DOLLARS" stand out from the flood of flowers. The scroll, passing at the animal's feet, bears the inscription "AUSTRALIA". The design includes the maker's mark.
The current national emblem was bestowed on Australia in 1912 by King George V as ruler of the British Dominion. The shield, divided into six fields, represents the Australian states (New South Wales - St George's Cross with a lion and stars, Victoria - the constellation of the Southern Cross under the Imperial Crown, Queensland - the Imperial Crown on a Maltese Cross background, South Australia - a magpie, Western Australia - a black swan and Tasmania - a red lion). To convey the strength of the federation, it is edged with the fur of a border. The seven-pointed Star of the Federation above the shield symbolises both the six states and, collectively, the other territories with the seventh point. The role of shield bearers is played by the red kangaroo and the brown emu, typical representatives of the Australian fauna. The national flower, the acacia, tied in a bunch, forms the background and framework of the national emblem, marked on the scroll with the inscription 'AUSTRALIA'.
The obverse depicts a female emu guarding a nest of eggs. The background is intertwined with acacia branches. The Star of the Union is repeated between them. A separate inner circle contains the traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the initials of the artist Jody Clark, the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA" and the year of issue "2021". The scroll at the feet of the feathered figure gives the weight and purity of the metal "1 OUNCE .9999 AU".
The coin has Australian legal tender status and comes in a protective plastic capsule. The mintage is limited to just 5,000 pieces for the entire world!
