5 Oz Gold Coin with Pearl - HMS Endeavour
Following the huge success of the gold and silver pearl coins released in previous years in the "Mother of Pearl" series, an exclusive gold coin with pearl is being released for 2018 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the first sailing of James Cook's famous ship, The Endeavour.
Released by Solomon Islands in 2017, the five-ounce gold coin (155.5g) is minted in 99.9% purest gold and features a genuine mother-of-pearl inner core.
The inner blue coloured mother-of-pearl set into the coin depicts on its reverse the beautiful design of the exploration ship Endeavour against an ocean background. The motif is complemented by the name of the coin - "HM BARK ENDEAVOUR". The gold circle contains the inscriptions "1768 COOK'S VOYAGE DISCOVERY" and the face value "200 DOLLARS". The obverse shows a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian-Rank Broadley surrounded by the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "SOLOMON ISLANDS", "5 Oz Au 999" and "2018".
The coin comes in a luxury wooden gift box. You will also find a numbered certificate of authenticity in a limited edition of only 25 pieces for the entire world!
