Series "Birds of Prey" - Red-tailed Hawk - 2015
Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2015 in absolute purity of the purest 99.99% silver as the third in a series of four coins called "Birds of Prey" issued from 2014 to 2015 (two coins per year), this silver investment coin is dedicated to the icon of the North American sky, the Red-tailed Hawk.
The obverse traditionally features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "5 DOLLARS" and the year of issue. The coin has the status of Canadian legal tender.
The reverse depicts a portrait of a red-tailed hawk in flight landing on its prey. The motif is surrounded by the inscriptions "CANADA", "FINE SILVER", fineness "9999", "1 OZ OR PUR". On the left are the initials of the artist Emily Damstra "ED".
