Series "Birds of Prey" - Bald Eagle - 2014
Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2014 in absolute purity of the purest 99.99% silver as the second in a series of four coins called "Birds of Prey" issued from 2014 to 2015 (two coins per year), this silver investment coin is dedicated to the icon of the North American sky and the national symbol of the United States of America - the bald eagle.
The obverse traditionally features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "5 DOLLARS" and the year of issue. The coin has the status of Canadian legal tender.
The reverse shows a portrait of a bald eagle in flight holding its prey (a fish) in its powerful talons. The motif is surrounded by the inscriptions "CANADA", "FINE SILVER", fineness "9999", "1 OZ OR PUR". On the right are the initials of the artist Emily Damstra "ED".
