Puma - Canadian Wildlife
The Royal Canadian Mint is issuing a silver investment coin for 2012, this time dedicated to the Puma. The 999.9/1000 fine silver investment coin, with a maximum mintage of only 1,000,000 pieces, is the third of a planned six-coin Canadian Wildlife series.
The Canadian Wildlife series was first launched on September 9, 2011.
Coins issued in this series: Wolf, Grizzly, Cougar, Elk, Antelope, Wood Bison. The face value of all coins is 5 Canadian dollars.
Obverse
All coins feature a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II created in 2003 by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt. The inscriptions on the coin are ELIZABETH II, 5 DOLLARS and the year.
Reverse
The coin depicts a playful Canadian cougar standing on a tree branch with its mouth open to symbolize its immense strength. Inscriptions on the coin are CANADA, 9999, FINE SILVER, 1 OZ, ARGENT PUR and the initials WW by the engraver William Woodruff.
