Wood Bison - Canadian Wildlife
The Royal Canadian Mint is issuing a silver investment coin for 2013, this time dedicated to the largest mammal on the American continent - the Wood Bison. The 999.9/1000 fine silver investment coin is issued in a maximum mintage of only 1,000,000 pieces and is the sixth and final coin in the Canadian Wildlife series.
The Canadian Wildlife series was first launched on September 9, 2011.
Coins issued in this series: Wolf, Grizzly, Cougar, Elk, Antelope, Wood Bison. The face value of all coins is 5 Canadian dollars.
Obverse
All coins feature a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II created in 2003 by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt. The inscriptions on the coin are ELIZABETH II, 5 DOLLARS and the year.
Reverse
The coin depicts a bison motif in the Canadian wilderness. Inscriptions on the coin CANADA, 9999, FINE SILVER, 1 OZ, ARGENT PUR and initials of the artist Emily S. Damstra - ED.
