An exclusive silver investment coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2018 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the first release of arguably the world's most popular silver investment coin, the Maple Leaf, which was first minted in 1988. The mintage of the Maple Leaf 30th Anniversary coin is limited to 250,000 pieces for the entire world!
The Canadian Mint mints investment coins made of gold, silver, platinum and palladium, known as the Maple Leaf because it features a maple leaf. The coins contain no other metals, just pure silver mined from silver mines in Canada. The Maple Leaf silver investment coin has been offered since 1988 and guarantees a metal content (in troy ounces) and absolute 99.99% purity of the purest silver.
Silver investment coins bear the symbol of Canada on their reverse, a depiction of a maple leaf intertwined with the anniversary number "30". The background of the coin consists of radial rays. Also included is the security mark - a small maple leaf with the year of issue ending in "18" (can be seen under a magnifying glass). The security mark is made using the laser microfabrication technique used on all Maple Leaf gold and silver investment coins issued since 2014.
The obverse of the coin features the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II and they have the status of Canadian legal tender.
