Australian Kookaburra 2023
A silver investment coin issued by the Perth Mint in 2023 and minted in the finest 99.99% pure silver, weighing 1 Oz (31.1 g). The Australian Kookaburra motif was introduced by the Australian Mint in 1990, and the design has been changed every year since (with the exception of the 2015 annual issue). The original motif for each issue enhances the numismatic appreciation of the coins issued.
The reverse features the Australian kingfisher (Kookaburra) in the form chosen for 2023 by Wade Robinson. The design depicts two individuals of the Giant Kingfisher on the branches of a waratah bush with its distinctive spherical flowers. The design includes the inscription "AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA", the year of issue, weight and purity information, the artist's initials "WR" and the mint mark "P".
The obverse bears a portrait of Elizabeth II by Jody Clark, accompanied by the inscriptions 'ELIZABETH II', 'AUSTRALIA' and the face value. The coins have Australian legal tender status and come in a protective plastic capsule.
