Athenian Owl
Silver investment coin issued by the State of Niue in purity of the purest 99.9% silver, weighing 1 Oz (31.1 g), is dedicated to the silver coins of ancient Greece with the motif of the Athenian Owl (common tit) - tetradrachm. In the classical Athenian period, the tetradrachm was probably the most common coin in the entire Greek area. The obverse depicted the head of the goddess Athena.
On its reverse side, the coin shows the motif of the Athenian tetradrachm - an owl on a branch, an olive branch, a crescent moon and the inscription ΑΘΕ. This motif is further complemented by weight and purity indications.
The obverse bears the traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain by Ian-Rank Broadley with the inscriptions 'ELIZABETH II', 'NIUE', the denomination and the year of issue.
