Somalia - African Wilderness
The 2020 African Wildlife series of investment silver coins of the Republic of Somalia, minted in the finest 99.99% pure silver and weighing 1 kilogram, have been issued since 2004 by the Bavarian Mint in Munich, Germany (Das Bayerische Hauptmünzamt Mint) with a history dating back to 1158.
The reverse side of the coin shows a pair of elephants standing opposite each other in profile. In the background is an arid African landscape that merges into the Kilimanjaro mountain range. The inscriptions "AFRICAN WILDLIFE", "ELEPHANT", "1kg Ag 999.9" form the rim.
The obverse side of the coin depicts the heraldic symbol of the Republic of Somalia - two leopards holding a shield with a five-pointed star. Below the shield are two crossed spears entwined by a ribbon and two crossed palm leaves. The obverse bears the inscription 'SOMALI REPUBLIC' accompanied by the year of issue and the denomination.
