Golden Flower Collection - 3D Strelitzia
The original silver coin with gold 3D Strelitzia is issued by the State of Samoa for 2023 with a weight of 1 Oz (31.1 g) in the purest 99.9% silver purity in top proof quality. This is the fourth coin in the Golden Flower Collection series and is dedicated to the exotic Strelitzia plant.
This coin makes an original gift for a loved one, to commemorate a special event or occasion. Strelitia is a tropical plant, also called the "Bird of Paradise" because its flower resembles a bird. It is native to South Africa and came to Europe thanks to King George III, who had it imported to the Royal Botanic Gardens in London in 1773. Today it is a popular houseplant that flowers only once a year for 4-6 weeks. This exotic plant is a symbol for extravagance and an ideal gift for someone special.
The reverse of the coin bears a gold 3D Strelitzia flower elaborated in fine detail. The background of the silver coin consists of Strelitzia leaves, the name of the flower "STRELITZIA", the logo of the series and the weight and purity data. The outer ring of the coin is completed by the series name "GOLDEN FLOWER COLLECTION" and the year of issue.
The obverse shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian-Rank Broadley with the initials "IRB", the national emblem of Samoa, the inscription "SAMOA" and the face value.
