Predators 3 Oz Wolf - Double Sided High Relief
A unique silver coin issued by the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire for 2021 and minted from the purest 99.9% silver weighing 93.3 g (3 Oz) in Antique Standard, the Predators series will gradually introduce wildlife representatives processed in double-sided high relief. The wolf was chosen for the second coin in the series.
On the reverse side of the coin, High Relief embossing technology is used to achieve an elaborate sculptural likeness of the wolf in its natural habitat of deep forests. The wolf prizes its sharp fangs in an attempt to intimidate its prey. The motif is surrounded by the weight "3 OZ", the fineness "999 AG", the inscription "PREDATORS - WOLF" and the year of issue. The motif also includes the mark of the Belgian manufacturer P. De Greef and the maker's mark.
The common wolf (Canis lupus) is the largest canid. Together with other carnivores, it belongs at the top of the food chain, where it has no natural enemy. It is characterised by its excellent hearing, cleverness, endurance and speed. It uses these qualities to relentlessly pursue its prey over distances of several kilometres. They hunt in packs that dare to kill animals larger than themselves. It will knock its prey to the ground and kill it by biting its throat.
The obverse side of the coin unusually uses the same high relief minting technology as on the reverse. The motif depicts a dramatic scene of a lone mouflon being chased by a wolf pack. The national emblem of Côte d'Ivoire with the inscription 'REPUBLIQUE DE COTE D'IVOIRE', the year of issue '2021' and the face value '5000 FRANCS CFA' is inserted in the upper part of the image. The edge of the coin is numbered and corresponds to the certificate.
