Predators 3 Oz Grizzly - Double Sided High Relief

A unique silver coin issued by the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire for 2020 and minted in the purest 99.9% silver weighing 93.3 g (3 Oz) in Antique Standard, this coin is part of the new Predators series which will gradually introduce wildlife representatives processed in double-sided high relief. A grizzly bear was chosen for the first coin in the series.

On the reverse side of the coin, High Relief embossing technology is used to achieve a sophisticated sculptural likeness of the grizzly bear in its natural habitat of deep forests. The roaring bear, with its sharp fangs and long claws, emerges from an animated scene in the midst of wild nature. The motif is surrounded by the weight "3 OZ", the purity "999 AG", the inscription "PREDATORS - GRIZZLY" and the year of issue. The motif also includes the name of the Belgian manufacturer P. De Greef and the maker's mark.
The grizzly bear or also the silver bear, the North American brown bear lives in the mountainous regions of North America. Its name is derived from the English word "grizzled" - grey-haired, because its fur in shades of black, brown and beige has mostly grey-white tips. They are solitary animals that retreat to the banks of rivers, streams and lakes during the salmon spawning season. Fish are very important in its diet because they supply much needed fats. Outside the salmon season, it feeds mainly on plants and berries, with only occasional large mammals, carrion and small insects. They are capable of gaining up to 180 kg in preparation for hibernation. Their role is also very important in maintaining the ecosystem. The excreted, consumed seeds of the fruits have better conditions for germination. The forests along the riversides receive a supply of nitrogen from the remains of the salmon caught. Grizzly bears are an endangered and protected species living mostly in nature reserves.

Unusually, the obverse side of the coin uses the same high relief minting technology as the reverse side. The motif depicts a dramatic moment of a grizzly attacking a deer. The national emblem of Côte d'Ivoire with the inscription "REPUBLIQUE DE COTE D'IVOIRE", the year of issue "2020" and the face value "5000 FRANCS CFA" is inserted in the upper part of the image. The edge of the coin is numbered and corresponds to the certificate.
