Tiffany Art Metropolis - London - Smartminting

A unique silver coin with glass insert, issued by the State of Palau for 2023, weighing 1 kilogram of the purest 99.9% silver in ultra-high relief and Proof finish, is released as part of the Tiffany Art Metropolis series, which combines artistic techniques to offer a bird's eye view of major cities. The third coin in the series, at a generous 120mm diameter, features the UK's capital city of London.

Using Smartminting® technology, the reverse of the coin features a bird's eye view of the street network, highlighting major landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the British Museum, the Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral and the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain. There are also typical London symbols such as the figure of the Royal Guard in a unique uniform and bearskin cap or the red double-decker bus. The blue Tiffany glass liner runs through the centre of the city and marks the course of the River Thames. The name of the series and the year of issue "METROPOLIS", "TIFFANY ART 2023" are shown in two lines at the bottom of the coin.

The obverse of the coin depicts one of the world's most famous bridges, Tower Bridge, spanning the River Thames. This unique drawbridge consists of two towers and was built in 1894. It stands close to the Tower of London and connects the City of London to the borough of Tower Hamlets, which borders Southwark. The glass Tiffany inset continues in the clear water of the Thames and the national emblem of the Republic of Palau is located on the left with the inscription "REPUBLIC OF PALAU" and the denomination "$50". Above the bridge is a stylized inscription "London I love you".
