The unique silver coin with glass insert, issued by the State of Palau for 2022, weighing 1 kilogram of the purest 99.9% silver in ultra-high relief and Proof, is part of the Tiffany Art Metropolis series, which combines artistic techniques to offer a bird's eye view of major cities. The second coin in the series, at a generous 120mm diameter, features the capital of Italy, Rome - the Eternal City.

On the reverse side of the coin, a bird's-eye view of the street network is transferred using Smartminting® technology, highlighting selected buildings such as the Colosseum, the Vatican, the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. The Tiffany Art glass insert runs through the centre of the city and marks the course of the Tiber River. The green-tinted glass is recessed into the depth of the coin and, together with the Proof design used for the street system, produces interesting lighting effects. The name of the series and the year of issue, "METROPOLIS", "TIFFANY ART 2022", are shown in two lines at the bottom edge of the coin.

The obverse of the coin shows one of the most famous bridges of Rome, the Ponte Sant' Angelo. It was originally built in 134 AD by the Roman Emperor Hadrian to span the Tiber River from the city centre to his newly built mausoleum, now Castel Sant' Angelo. The sculptural decoration of the bridge, elaborated in fine detail, is what draws attention to the rendering of the structure. The water surface follows a grid pattern and contains the stylised inscription 'ROMA ti amo'. It includes the national emblem of the Republic of Palau with the inscription "REPUBLIC OF PALAU" and the denomination "50$".
