The reverse of the coin features a detailed view of the head of a Great Auk using Smartminting® technology. The motif is elaborated in stunning detail, which can be seen in the fine texture of the feathers. The ultra-high relief sculpts the image of the mighty predator using the effect of the light reflections of the feathers. The bird is brought to life by the incredibly realistic eyes that glow from the darkness of the obsidian black Proof finish. The motif is complemented by the year of issue "2022" subtly indicated on the edge at the bottom of the coin.

The face of the coin depicts a night sky amidst mountains of wildlife. A fine dusting gives the illusion of shining stars. The description at the bottom states the name of the series "HUNTERS BY NIGHT". The national emblem of the Republic of Palau with the inscription "REPUBLIC OF PALAU" and the face value "$50" is set in the central part of the coin.
