Complete collection of kilogram coins of the In the Eyes series issued in 2014 - 2017
A unique collectible collection of four silver coins issued by the Royal Canadian Mint between 2014 and 2017 as part of the In the Eyes series, dedicated to Canadian fauna. Each coin in the series is minted at 1 kilogram of the purest 99.99% silver in Proof quality.
The comprehensive collection consists of the In the Eyes of the Snowy Owl (2014 issue), In the Eyes of the Cougar (2015 issue), In the Eyes of the Kermode Bear (2016 issue) and In the Eyes of the Grey Wolf (2017 issue) coins.
The reverse of the coins depict portraits of four wildlife species found in Canada. The penetrating gaze of the animals focused on the viewer is created by a selective enamelling technique for eye detail. The exceptional quality of the embossing is evident in the abundance of realistic detail and shading contrasting with the mirror-like sheen of the background. The motifs are complemented by the inscription "CANADA" and the initials of the designer.
The obverse shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt with the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "D.G.REGINA", the denomination "250 DOLLARS" and the year of issue.
Each coin is housed in a deluxe wooden box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity, in a limited edition for each issue.
