A unique gold coin, partially enamelled, issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2017 as the fourth in a series of coins issued annually since 2014 in a premium quality proof weight of 1 Kg in absolute purity of the purest 99.99% gold, is dedicated to the wildlife of Canada.
The coin features a detailed portrait of a wolf on its reverse and its green-eyed gaze highlighted by enamel technique. The realistic impression and depth of the wolf's fur, ears, muzzle and mouth are enhanced by advanced finishing and shading techniques and intricate engravings. Grey Wolf or Timber Wolf is a canine carnivore native to areas of North America and Canada. The motif is accompanied by the inscription "CANADA" and the artist's initials "PL" are placed on the right. The obverse shows a traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt with the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "D G REGINA", the face value "2500 DOLLARS" and the year of issue.
The coin comes in a dark brown maple wood box along with a numbered certificate of authenticity in an extremely limited edition of only 10 pieces for the entire world!
