RCM - Maple Leaf - Incuse 2019
The Canadian Mint has been minting investment coins in absolute 99.99% gold purity and weighing 1 Oz (31.11 g) since 1979. The coins contain no other metals, only pure gold mined from gold mines in Canada. Designed by Walter Ott, the coins bear the Canadian national symbol, the Maple Leaf, on their reverse. The original design was supplemented in 2013 with a security mark - a micro-engraved maple leaf, and in 2015 radial lines appeared on the background of the coin.
Gold investment coins bear the symbol of Canada, the Maple Leaf, on their reverse. In contrast to the Maple Leaf gold investment coin, the Maple Leaf Incuse coin features the main maple leaf motif recessed in depth, below the level of the radial lines. A special embossing technology (GEM BU) gives the coin's motif impressive optical effects and original light areas full of detail and sharp depressions. The background of the coin consists of radial rays. The security mark is also included - a small maple leaf with the year of issue "19" (can be seen under a magnifying glass). The security mark is made using the laser microfabrication technique used on all Maple Leaf gold and silver investment coins issued since 2014.
The obverse shows the traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, the inscription "ELIZABETH II", the denomination "50 DOLLARS" and the year of issue. The coin has the status of Canadian legal tender.
