Australian Kookaburra 2020 - 30th Anniversary
The 2020 Australian Kookaburra Anniversary Gold Investment Coin, issued by the Perth Mint in 2020, weighing 1/10 Oz in purity of the purest 99.99% gold, is released to mark the 30th anniversary of the Kookaburra silver investment coins.
These coins are among the most popular silver investment coins in the world and have been minted since 1990 in a variety of weights (10Kg, 1Kg, 10 Oz, 5 Oz, 2 Oz, 1 Oz, 1/2 Oz) and designs. The annual change of the kingfisher motif increases the numismatic value of the coins issued.
The reverse of the coin depicts Dr. Stuart Devlin's kingfisher motif used in 1990 for the first Kookaburra investment coin issue. The same motif was repeated in 2015 to mark the 25th anniversary and as part of the reverse design of the 2020 silver coins. The motif is complemented by the inscription "AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA", the anniversary years "1990" and "2020", weight and purity information and the coin mark "P".
The obverse bears a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by the inscriptions 'ELIZABETH II', 'AUSTRALIA' and the face value.
The coin has the status of Australian legal tender and comes in a protective plastic capsule.
